Hey guys! I’m Rachael, a 25-year-old Brit, author of the blog www.hilltopsandflipflops.com and the latest addition to the Transfer Travel Ambassador team.
For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to travel but always wanted to experience more than your average backpacker traipsing their way along the typical South East Asia route. So in 2015 I quit my job as a journalist and headed to the snow-peaked mountains of Canada – and boy, what a decision that was!
I’m currently working and living in North America’s number one ski resort, Whistler, BC, and loving every minute. One year in to my Working Holiday Visa and I’ve delved into British Columbia and its beautiful nature.
My travel bucket list is as long as anyone else’s and is filled with the usual ‘bungee jump’, ‘sky dive’, ‘go to Hawaii’. But also on my list is to have worked and lived on every continent by the time I”m 30 so I’ve got five years and five continents to go to reach my goal. Even if I don’t get there I plan on seeing as much as possible and having fun along the way!
When I’m not working you’ll find me outdoors – snowboarding in the winter and doing some kind of water-based activity in the summer, and hiking in-between.
I’m excited to join the Transfer Travel team and help fuel your wanderlust and share my adventures, tips and tricks. Next up is a road trip across Canada, volunteering with turtles in Costa Rica and on to a Working Holiday in Australia in 2017. Stay tuned!
And in case you’re wondering why I choose to travel, the answer is this: “To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, To gain all while you give, To roam the roads of lands remote, To travel is to live.”
